Running clubs can help runners reach their goals while sharing the love of the sport with like minded individuals. This running club has a long history in the District dating back to the early 70s. Some of its members have competed and won in National and International events, making it one of the premier clubs in Washington. The club hosts weekly runs designed to prepare you ahead of big events with each one ending with a little relaxation at local restaurants and cafes. Cost of membership is $20 per person and $30 per family.

The DC Running Club is non-profit organization that hosts runs to promote a healthy lifestyle and to raise money for local charities. The club is open to runners of al ages and abilities and organizes events throughout the Greater DMV. Membership is free and the club offers its members training sessions at a cost of just $5 each. DC Capital Striders

DC Capital Striders is a running club serving runners in Northern Virginia, DC and Maryland. The club strives to promote fitness, volunteerism, raising money for local charities and providing social interaction for runners. Members get access to group runs of all types in the DMV area, discounts on local and national races, free fitness seminars and discounts on running gear and other fitness related items. The cost is $25 per year, per runner.

Capital Area Runners is a running club that focuses on competitive running. The club offers three different programs; general membership, CAR distance training program and the elite development program. The distance training program meets two days a week and provides each runner with a personalized training program. The elite program is a higher level of training and participants must meet time minimums. The CAR and elite programs have additional costs on top of the annual $40 general membership fee. Capital Area Runners also offers an online program for $200 that helps runners get ready for big events.
