Summertime in DC can get hot and humid, and kids can get bored and antsy when the temperatures get too high. One of the best warm weather activities that can be enjoyed by adults and kids alike is a visit to a local public pool. This pool and water park has many features that make it one of the best public pools in the area. The double water slide is one such attraction. It is 250 feet long and lands directly in the main pool. Kids and adults come from far and wide to enjoy this spectacular slide. Another great feature of Bohrer Park is the huge playground, complete with a picnic area so you can bring snacks and beverages to enjoy before, after or during your pool activities. The 2014 summer season for Bohrer Park runs from June 7 to August 24.

Anacostia pool is one of DC’s most popular pools because of its great location, right next to the Anacostia River. The pool is a great addition to the Anacostia neighborhood as it provides a fun and safe spot for kids to hang out. Swimming lessons and fun summer activities such as water aerobics are also offered. The swimming lessons cater to children as well as adults, and there is also a skating pavilion and basketball courts.

The East Potomac pool is one of DC’s biggest pools and one of the most popular. It is Olympic sized and known for being one of the cleanest in the area. Surrounded by green grass, located in between the Washington Channel and the Potomac River and supplied with lounge chairs, it has all of the makings of a great outdoor pool. Head over with your family as soon as it opens to take advantage of this pool. Parking is also free.

It has a main pool, a lazy river pool and a even a lagoon complete with slides. Outdoor vendors will be selling snacks to keep you hydrated and satisfied. Adults should know that there is an adult swim time every hour.

It does get crowded and there is a shortage of seating, so be sure to arrive early in the day. It is in Georgetown so you can always take a break from pool time to go shopping or grab a bite to eat.
