Although we probably eat more cookies around the holidays, anytime of year is great for having a warm, gooey cookie. Reminiscent of everyone’s childhood, cookies are comforting and delicious. Although there are many spots in the DC area that sell yummy cookies, here is a list of five local favorites. Go pick up a batch today! Some of them do deliver or take online orders if you need to place a big order.

Honestly, the cookies from Captain Cookie pretty much speak for themselves. The owners have all the classic flavors including chocolate chip, snicker doodle, oatmeal raisin and peanut butter. They even make a phenomenal vegan chocolate chip cookie. For something especially fun, ask for a a cookie ice cream sandwich! Ice cream flavors change with the season. You can go to their store, or look out for one of their three food trucks. You can find the trucks’ daily locations on their website. If you want to order some for a party, they also do delivery.

The choices at Sticky Fingers vary by season, but they always feature chocolate chip, double chocolate chip, and oatmeal raisin cookies year ’round. You can also get their cookies in a cookie sandwich with vanilla cream. Everything from Sticky Fingers is vegan, not that you can tell! Their cookies are moist and perfect, especially the double chocolate chip cookie.

This local shop has more loyal followers than most establishments in the DC area. The bakers rise at the crack of dawn to bake all of their goods from scratch fresh every day. Be sure to go to Woodmoor Pastry Shop early in the day, as this gem frequently runs out of its goods!
