Forget sticky, cheap, at-home eyelash extensions and visit a local professional. To avoid doing any damage to your natural lashes, schedule a consultation and apply lashes that are both safe and long lasting. Eyelash extensions are semi permanent and because natural lashes shed every two to four weeks, a refill is necessary for maximum effect.

282 N. Washington St., Suite B

Falls Church, Virginia 22046
(866) 752-4476

BellaLuxe opened in 2007 and was the first dedicated lash extension spa in the DC area. It strictly applies eyelash sets – which are 75-135 lashes per eye. Since BellaLuxe is the creator of all its Lash Extension Products, lashes have all been fine tuned to provide only the best extensions on the market. Stylists are all licensed estheticians and have been trained and apprenticed by Mitzi Hale, the creator of the BellaLuxe Lash Application process. BellaLuxe has five full-time master lash stylists that are available seven days a week. Hale has trained stylists all over the world and her products are sold in some of the top spas, salons and lash boutiques around the country. BellaLuxe provides four different type of lash curls, 10 different lengths, four different thicknesses and multiple colors. Lashes range from $85-$300 and last the entire cycle of a natural lash, 45-60 days. “We see a lot of clients that have tried lash extensions elsewhere and come to us to have them removed and reapplied. It is such an intricate process and the industry is not regulated in a lot of states so you get people who have only taken a short course and work with products that are not safe for the eyes, leading to infections and sometimes permanent damage to the natural lashes. All of our products have been Ophthalmologist tested and are safe for the eyes,” said Hale.

Elle Bella Lash Lounge
621 Pennsylvania Ave. S.E., 2nd Floor, Suite 2
Washington, DC 20003
(202) 488-1444

The impressive list of eyelash services available at Elle Bella Lash Lounge, DC’s premiere lash salon, is the largest and most diverse in the area. Prices vary depending on the number of lashes applied. Silk lashes start at $25, while Xtreme GLAM Eyelash Extensions are $425. “Eyelash extensions are a glamorous new way to extend the length and thickness of natural eyelashes, and are a practical, convenient and beautiful alternative to the daily use of mascara or an eyelash curler. Because each tapered lash is bonded to a single natural lash seamlessly, the final result is effortless glamour and difficult to detect even close up,” said KP Murray, Ella Bella’s master lash stylist. Be sure to check out Ella Bella’s exclusive sleep mask to preserve longer lashes.

Joy’s Spa & Nail Salon
2471 18th St. N.W.
Washington, DC 20009
(202) 234-0909

While there are various lengths, colors and thickness options, Joy’s Spa solely uses Xtreme Eyelash Extensions. The initial application, which includes client consultation and pre-last set up, lasts two to three hours and the cost is $250. A free follow-up fill is available two weeks later. Joy’s Spa is a family-owned business. Its licensed aesthetician, Tina Tull, was a pioneer in the DC area for eyelash extensions beginning in 2006. Clients are in goods hands as Tull has over 15 years of skin care experience. “Eyelash extensions are in a comfortable room, with relaxing music playing (or you can bring your own ipod/mp3 player and headphones during application), and clients can lay down and close their eyes on a padded facial table with soft cozy blankets and heated pads/blankets for the winter. There are after-care products that can be purchased and are highly recommended to help maintain lashes at home,” said Tull.
