Tale of the tape
Week 3: Washington Redskins Vs. Cincinnati Bengals
| The Redskins have tremendous confidence in the remarkable talent that Robert Griffin III has under center. He is an explosive runner with a powerful arm. Despite his great start, he is bound to go through some difficulties at this difficult position. | Quarterback | The Bengals feel quite secure with Andy Dalton at quarterback. He has size, strength, a plus arm and he makes good decisions with the ball. He is a solid quarterback early in his second year and there is plenty of room for growth. |
|---|---|---|
| The Redskins are getting plenty of positive things accomplished on the ground. In the Redskins’ Week Two loss to the Rams, running back Alfred Morris had 89 yards, Wide receiver Leonard Hankerson is a big-play threat who scored against the Rams. | Offense | The Bengals have plenty of offensive options, including wide receivers A.J. Green, Brandon Tate and Andrew Hawkins making plays downfield. Running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis can run between the tackles and get outside. |
| Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett is trying to build a tough and reliable 3-4 defense. While linebacker London Fletcher is coming off a 6 tackle game, the Redskins suffered two major blows when they lost defensive end Adam Carriker (quad tendon) for the season and outside linebacker Brian Orakpo (torn pectoral muscle) for four months. | Defense | The Bengals are coming off a poor defensive game in which they allowed Cleveland rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden the opportunity to perform like a star. RGIII should be able to exploit this defense. Cincinnati is usually strong at topping the interior run |
| The Redskins depend on punter Sav Rocca to pin opponents deep and he’s one of the better punters in the league. Ravens castoff Billy Cundiff missed his only field goal opportunity against the Rams. Brad Banks is just an ordinary returner. | Special Teams | Punter Kevin Huber does a good job of dropping the ball inside the 20. He was 3-of-3 in that category in the Week Two Win over the Browns. Placekicker Mike Nugent is a reliable field goal kicker. Adam Jones is an explosive punt returner who scored the opening touchdown against the Browns. |
We'll just call it a tie
