Potomac Edison says about 3,900 homes and businesses in Garrett County are still without power a week after Superstorm Sandy dumped up to 2 1/2 feet of snow in the far western Maryland mountains.
About 30 million people have already voted in 34 states and the District of Columbia, either by mail or in person. No votes will be counted until Tuesday but some key states are releasing the party affiliation of those who vote early.
Residents of the District of Columbia who haven’t yet signed up to vote in the presidential election have one last day to register by mail.
Creating a potential headache for his campaign, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said big businesses in the U.S. were “doing fine” in part because they get advantages from offshore tax havens.
