Sky-high expectations for the Maryland Terrapins Men’s Basketball team have survived the summer, as a new poll puts the Terps at No. 1.
The Maryland Terrapins men’s basketball team will hold Maryland Madness, the team’s annual celebratory first practice, at Cole Field House on Oct. 18, according to Washington Post’s Terrapins Insider.
After seeing Maryland squander an 11-point lead and hit just one basket in the final 10 minutes of the first half, coach Mark Turgeon walked into the locker room at halftime and gave his team a direct message.
Men’s cross country, indoor track and outdoor track, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, men’s tennis, women’s acrobatics and tumbling, and women’s water polo are all scheduled to be eliminated by July 1, but the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams begin tournament play this weekend, and that’s something to celebrate.
If you have tickets, keep ’em. If you don’t have ’em, buy ’em, because we’re going to do some great things.
“I’m excited about the opportunity,” said Lonergan. “I truly feel blessed.”
Gary Williams will announce his retirement as Maryland men’s basketball coach tomorrow after 22 seasons.
Williams will finish with a 460–248 as head coach of the Terrapins.
