A Republican-led committee on Friday increased pressure on Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner to break her silence on who in the tax agency was behind decisions to make it more difficult for tea party and other conservative groups to obtain tax-exempt status.

Progressive Groups: We Were Not Subjected To Same Level Of IRS Scrutiny As Tea Party

Leaders of progressive groups say they, too, faced long delays in getting the Internal Revenue Service to approve their applications for tax-exempt status but were not subjected to the same level of scrutiny that Tea Party groups complained about.
