NOAA meteorologist says Almanac’s prediction of a harsh winter may be premature.
The folks at the Farmers’ Almanac can be forgiven for feeling smug: The 198-year-old publication correctly predicted the past nasty winter while federal forecasters blew it.
The Farmers’ Almanac is using words like “piercing cold,” ”bitterly cold” and “biting cold” to describe the upcoming winter. And if its predictions are right, the first outdoor Super Bowl in years will be a messy “Storm Bowl.”
The weather world is full of high-profile meteorologists like NBC’s Al Roker and the Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore. But the guy making the forecasts for the Farmers’ Almanac is more like the man behind the curtain.
