Thousands of Region’s Residents Could Get Drug Treatment with Overhaul

Millions of uninsured Americans with drug and alcohol addictions will become eligible for insurance when the federal health care overhaul goes into effect next year. More than 2,000 D.C. residents, 100,000 Virginia residents and 41,000 Maryland residents are among them.

West Virginia Sheriff Fatally Shot While Eating Lunch In Car

A new sheriff who was cracking down on the drug trade in southern West Virginia’s coalfields was shot to death Wednesday in the spot where he usually parked his car for lunch, and State Police said the suspect was in a hospital with gunshot wounds inflicted by a deputy who chased him.
