D.C. United defeated the New York Red Bulls 1-0 on Thursday night in the second leg of Eastern Conference semifinals courtesy of an 88th minute game-winner from rookie Nick DeLeon. United advanced 2-1 on aggregate and will now face the Houston Dynamo in the Conference finals.

DC United snapped a 9-game winless streak going back to last season by defeating FC Dallas 4-1 on Friday night at RFK. Last season’s MLS MVP Dwayne De Rosario admitted that it was an early season “must-win” situation.
