Govenor McDonnell Announces Washington Redskins Will Keep Virginia Home But Move Training Camp To Richmond
In a huge financial windfall for the Commonwealth of Virginia, Governor Bob McDonnell announced Wednesday that the Washington Redskins will retain its headquarters in Ashburn but move Training Camp to the capital in Richmond starting in 2013.
The Mayor of Washington, D.C. is rallying to have the Redskins practice facility moved to the District, which goes against not only what the team would want, but also the local residents who inhabit the community projected to house the new facility.
Mayor Gray said city officials have only met with the Redskins once about the matter. No future meetings have been scheduled.
