Countless kites fill the pale blue skyline alongside the Washington Monument for the Cherry Blossom Kite Festival on Saturday, March 30, 2013. Thousands of tourists filled the National Mall to make the most of this early spring breeze and be reminded that clear skies won't be so few and far between in the near future.

More than 2,000 people gathered at the Saint Camillus Church in Silver Spring to witness a reenactment of the crucifix on Good Friday, March 29, 2013. Many of these people, perfect strangers, prayed together and gave thanks for the sacrifices made so they could live.

Clouded Leopard Cubs Growing Strong in Front Royal
This clouded leopard cub was born at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in Front Royal, Va., along with his female sibling on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013. Each of these nearly two-month-old cubs is healthy and growing, and just received their first vaccinations. They’ll remain at this location until they reach three and a half months, at which point they’ll be relocated to other zoos for eventual breeding.

D.C. Building Collapses
There was great unrest right up to the point when this two-story building collapsed on Tuesday, March 26, 2013. The building, which is connected to 'Washington and Sons Funeral Home' but not a part of it, finally gave way to gravity after withstanding harsh D.C. winds for days after being struck by a vehicle.

The Rockville High School community celebrated the life of 17-year-old senior Michelle Miller, who was killed April 8, 2013 by her 31-year-old Army recruiter in a murder-suicide, with a vigil and balloon release at the school's football field.
