WNEW’s Julie Wright

Afternoon Traffic Reporter – 3:30 to 7 p.m.

Julie Wright has been a part of the D.C./Md./Va. traffic landscape since 1996.

Julie is a native of Hampton Roads, Va., which still happens to be her favorite vacation destination. A self-proclaimed beach bum, if Julie’s not on your radio or on your TV there’s a 100 percent chance she’s soaking up the sun.

Julie left her hometown with a map (before fancy GPS units and cell phones) and found her way up I-95 to Baltimore where she became an airborne reporter in Baltimore. Within a year, she had been tapped to fly in the DMV. Julie then caught the eye of WTTG-TV’s Fox 5 morning news — and the rest is history. During the past 14 years in the DMV, Julie has been telling you where to and where not to go on a daily basis. Covering major events, including Congressional events and street closures, sporting events, inaugural events and of course the D.C. sniper attacks in 2002.

In addition to waking up in the middle of the night and providing WNEW-FM with the drive home information you need, Julie is also a part of WPGC’s morning show, Pablo and Free, as well as The Junkies morning show on WJFK.

Julie isn’t one to slow down. In her spare time, or in her other life, she’s the sitting president of the D.C. chapter of SAG-AFTRA, she’s an avid runner, loves spending time with friends, and of course, worshiping the sun. Julie is an active resident of Gaithersburg where she loves to spend time with her true best friend, Beagle Bailey.
