WASHINGTON — Three of the Redskins’ starting offensive linemen are shelved today, including both of the squad’s Pro Bowl players. The backup left tackle is also out today, and the starting right tackle will play despite nursing two sprain ankles.
Dear Kirk Cousins: don’t be a hero. Run for your life.
The Redskins released their inactives list 90 minutes before kickoff, and it’s a doozy:
The Redskins’ starting offensive line is likely to include Chase Roullier at center, Tyler Catalina at right guard, and T.J. Clemmings at left tackle. The team also added depth with Arie Kouandjio and Orlando Franklin, both of whom are likely to see snaps on Sunday.
With inclement weather in the forecast, the Redskins’ offense will need to establish the ground game, to protect Cousins. It’s possible that there will be greater use of the play-action and bootleg game.
As Hoffman points out, Bashaud Breeland is also out, just as fellow corner Josh Norman returns from injury. This will play a critical role in the passing game, as the Cowboys have an array of playmakers on the outside.
On the Dallas sideline, there is little relief in terms of the inactives:
Ezekiel Elliott will start for the Cowboys at running back, with former Redskins’ back Alfred Morris backing him up.
