Nationals’ Max Scherzer may not be ready for Opening Day

WASHINGTON — Nationals ace Max Scherzer may not be ready for Opening Day.

Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports Scherzer, who withdrew from the upcoming World Baseball Classic with a stress fracture in the knuckle of his right ring finger, says Scherzer would not commit to being ready for opening day.

The Nationals open their season at home against the Marlins on April 3.
