WASHINGTON — No matter your political affiliation, if you live around the District, you’re probably going to want a drink this weekend.
Maybe you’ll want to put the whole inauguration spectacle behind you, or maybe you’ll want to revel in its craziness. Either way, if you’re looking for a drink, there’s a new option in town.
A Donald Trump-themed pop-up bar that previously made an appearance before the election will make its return Tuesday and wrap up after Friday’s inauguration. The bar, naturally named “Unpresidented,” will make its home in the basement of restaurant/bar Barrel in Capitol Hill, per the Washingtonian.
This time around, the bar will have a Russian twist, due of course to the various scandals surrounding the election and Trump regarding Vladimir Putin and Russia. The only liquor available at Unpresidented: Russian Standard vodka, with the exception of one bourbon-based cocktail called “This Drink Costs $29 at The Trump Hotel.”
The name of the bar comes from one of Trump’s own tweets, when he misspelled “unprecedented.”
Come for the drinks, stay for the ridiculous. All around the bar are printed Trump tweets, categorized by who the president-elect attacks in the tweets. Giant novelty trading cards are plastered along one wall featuring Trump’s cabinet nominees and major supporters. There’s also a painting in the style of The Last Supper that shows Trump, Rex Tillerson, Mike Pence, Steve Bannon and others. (See the painting here.)
Operating partner Brad Ingwell tells The Washingtonian says the bar will be “extremely offensive and completely ridiculous,” which sounds about right.
