WAKEFIELD, Va. — Forecasters in Virginia are preparing for several inches of snow in parts of the state.
Eric Seymour, a meteorologist and hydrologist at the National Weather Service’s office in Wakefield, Virginia, says light snow is expected to begin Friday evening. More snow is expected in the overnight hours from midnight to 8 a.m. Saturday.
Seymour says forecasters are expecting a narrow band of very heavy snow, but it’s hard to say exactly where that will fall. Seymour says forecasters expect the heaviest snow will be over southeast Virginia and northeastern North Carolina, where snow totals could range from 8 to 10 inches.
The weather service says in a statement that 2 to 4 inches are expected northwest of Richmond and 4 to 6 inches are expected in the Richmond metro area.
