WASHINGTON — The Redskins are the defending NFC East champions.
In case you had somehow forgotten that, several members of the defense — namely, Ricky Jean Francois and Chris Baker — were kind enough to remind you of that fact after Washington beat the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
It was Washington’s fourth straight win, and its second win over a division rival this season. Only the 5-1 Dallas Cowboys have a better record than the Redskins, who, at 4-2, are right on their tails.
Even though the Redskins aren’t technically leading the division, don’t tell them that. They’re quite pleased with their current status, and they’re certainly in the mix to be the first team to win the NFC East in back-to-back seasons since the 2003-2004 Eagles.
It’s probably preemptive to say the Redskins “run the East.” But at this rate, they might soon be able to say that, and mean it.
