WASHINGTON — One person is dead and three others have been injured after a Metrobus and car collided in Southeast Washington, police say.

The crash happened Wednesday night on Suitland Parkway near Stanton Road. District Fire and EMS officials said a person inside the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger in the car was taken to the hospital with what authorities say are critical and life-threatening injuries.

Officials say two people on the bus were also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The roadway was shut down due to the crash. Crews were on the scene dealing with a fuel leak from the bus.
