WASHINGTON — The Nationals have announced their lineup for Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the Dodgers.
With the NLDS tied 1-1, Game 3 becomes critical, as the losing team will then be facing elimination in Game 4.
Left-handed pitcher Gio Gonzalez gets the start for the Nationals against right-handed Kenta Maeda of the Dodgers.
Trea Turner (right) will continue to lead off, followed instead by Jayson Werth (right) in the order. Most of Werth’s regular season at-bats came out of the second spot in the order, where he hit .259/.363/.418 with 17 doubles and 13 home runs in 416 plate appearances.
Bryce Harper (left), who batted second in Game 2, slides down to clean-up behind Daniel Murphy (left). Anthony Rendon (right) will bat fifth, followed by Ryan Zimmerman (right), Danny Espinosa (switch), Jose Lobaton (switch) and Gonzalez.
The Dodgers lineup favors right-handed hitting vs. left-handed Gonzalez. The Dodgers, it’s worth noting, were the worst-hitting team in Major League Baseball against lefties. Their lineup features five right-handed hitters, three lefties and one switch-hitter (Yasmani Grandal).
