WASHINGTON — Grant and Danny were having a bit of a rough show on Tuesday morning.

As they prepared for their 11:45 a.m. Double Play — something in each host’s life that has nothing to do with sports — producer Brendan Darr offered up a story idea: A bar is supposedly going to open in Los Angeles that will exclusively serve the “beautiful people” of the world.

The topic prompted hosts Grant Paulsen and Danny Rouhier to discuss whether or not they would be admitted into said bar. In other words: Are Grant and Danny beautiful?

“There is no question either one of us gets into that bar,” Rouhier said, immediately.

“But here’s the thing,” came Paulsen’s retort. “I think I’m a good-looking guy who just happens to be fat. Like, I think if you take all my fat away, underneath of me is kind of a pretty silly-looking dude. Maybe I’m wrong about that, but I think I have beautiful eyes, I think I have pretty good hair, I have decent skin, I’ve got a good thing going. I’m very fat.”

The conversation continued along those lines for awhile, then the two decided to discuss each other’s best features.

Paulsen asked Rouhier to name his (Paulsen’s) three best features. Rouhier came up with two.

“Eyes. Your eyes are striking,” Rouhier started. “Your beard is well-manicured.”

“My man. It hasn’t been a great day for the Grant and Danny Show so far —”

“We’re just speaking truth to each other,” Rouhier said.

“But now you’re making me feel good about myself,” Paulsen said. “What else you got?”

“Third one? Third one’s tough,” Rouhier admitted. “I don’t know, I don’t notice things about people that much. I look at your face a lot. Give me a third thing. Good shoes? I don’t know, I got nothing. … You know what, actually? Your nose fits your face well.”

“What a weird compliment.”

The rest of the segment hardly went any better. We’ll let the audio tell the tale.
