Trailing by one late in the third quarter, Olivier Vernon got to Kirk Cousins on third down and it appeared as though that was the end of the Redskins’ drive.

Jay Gruden had other ideas.

The Redskins brought out the punt unit but punter Tres Way dropped back to pass once receiving the snap and launched a deep ball to cornerback/punt cover man Quinton Dunbar, who was actually pretty well covered on the play by the Giants’ Trevin Wade.

But Wade clearly wasn’t expecting a pass and with his back turned had no chance as Dunbar adjusted beautifully and made the grab.

The Redskins ended up settling for a field goal on the drive, but took their first lead of the game as a result, 26-24.
