WASHINGTON — It’s always easier for professional athletes to answer questions after a win than a loss, especially in a game where they performed well.

But flattery never hurts, as Washington Nationals starting pitcher Gio Gonzalez tried out on Sunday afternoon. Here is his interaction with MASN reporter Dan Kolko in the clubhouse after the game (via NBC-4):

Kolko: “What was working well for you today?”

Gonzalez: “The suit you have on right now is working money right now. That’s nice. I like the blue on you.”

This follows a long line of post-game interviews between Kolko and various Nationals, where they do everything they can to derail or fluster the otherwise polished reporter.

It’s a great bit, and surely one that Kolko could appreciate.

Gonzalez had one of the best outings of the season on Sunday, going seven strong innings, allowing four hits and one run, with one walk and five strikeouts. But his best pitch of the night came in front of his locker.
