WASHINGTON — On Sunday morning, Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin used Twitter and Instagram to announce to the world that he was married to his fiancee, Nastya Shubskaya:
This follows nearly one full year of engagement, after the couple began dating in early 2015. According to NHL.com, the ceremony follows a week of social media speculation, and the couple completed the deed in a small ceremony back in Russia.
One of the most important questions was asked by Bruins fan @djamorelli: “Aren’t rings on wrong hands?” As anyone can see from the photo, the rings are on the right hands for both Mr. and Mrs. Ovechkin.
According to fellow Twitter user @wayne_chow with a handy link to Wikipedia, it is customary in certain Orthodox countries to wear wedding bands on the right hands instead of the left.
Share that tidbit at the water cooler on Monday.
