Redskins Make First Round of Roster Cuts

by Brian Tinsman

WASHINGTON — With the completion of the third preseason game, the Washington Redskins have begun the difficult but necessary process of paring down the roster to 75 and eventually to 53.

Earlier today, they announced that the following 10 players have been released. As 106.7 The Fan’s Redskins beat reporter Brian McNally noted, there are few surprises in this list. Half of these players did not appear in the third preseason game:

  • T Al Bond
  • T Cody Booth
  • LB Shiro Davis
  • LB Ejiro Ederaine
  • CB Jeremy Harris
  • LB Willie Jefferson
  • WR Valdez Showers
  • WR Dez Stewart
  • WR Jarvis Turner
  • RB Kelsey Young

The Redskins were among the first three teams to announce roster cuts and have until August 30 at 4 p.m. to get the roster down to 75. After that, they will play the fourth preseason game and have until September 3 at 4 p.m. to reduce the roster to 53.

Not addressing any player in particular, but referring to the process, Redskins defensive lineman Chris Baker lamented the process:
