WASHINGTON — A sellout crowd of 38,490 Washington Nationals fans braved the heat to come to Nats Park on Saturday night, cheering on the home team and celebrating Star Wars Day.

The promotion, now several years running, is one of the most popular on the Nats’ schedule, and the team and fans go all out for the occasion, including free T-shirts, costumes for the myriad mascots and a complete takeover of the stadium graphics and music.

Fun fact for anyone wearing a Wookie costume: first pitch at 7:05 p.m. was a sweltering 96 degrees. According to Nationals PR, the hottest first pitch in franchise history was 101 degrees, but that was during a day game.

Here is the very best of Nats Star Wars Day 2016. Don’t worry, it’s not a trap.
