Ravens to Broadcast Michael Phelps Race at Game

WASHINGTON — It’s still Olympics season, but Thursday ushers in the NFL season in Baltimore.

The city is home to legendary swimmer Michael Phelps, who has already won three gold medals, and while football will come first Thursday night at M&T Bank Stadium, Phelps won’t be forgotten come kickoff.

Phelps is scheduled to swim in the final for the 200-meter individual medley at 10 p.m. ET. The Baltimore Ravens are set to kick off against the Carolina Panthers at 7:30 p.m. ET, so the race will likely take place some time during the fourth quarter of the game.

ESPN reports the race will be shown on video boards inside the stadium during a commercial break.

Phelps is a Ravens fan who has befriended several of the team’s players over the years, and if he wins another gold, which would be the 22nd of his career, the crowd will surely go wild.
