WASHINGTON — District of Columbia police say two men hurt in a shooting at a skate park may have been robbed.
Media outlets report the men were injured around 2:30 a.m. Monday at Shaw Skate Park. Streets in the area were closed for several hours.
When officers found the injured men, one was semi-conscious and the other was conscious. The Washington Post reports that police say one of the victims was shot in the thigh area and his injuries were not considered to be life-threatening. WTTG-TV reports the second man suffered more serious injuries.
Authorities say an initial investigation found the victims may have been robbed by two suspects. A police description of the suspects in a tweet says they’re black men wearing all black clothing and ski masks and carrying handguns.
About an hour later, the Metropolitan Police Department tweeted another armed robbery in a nearby neighborhood. The description of the suspects, while vague, is nearly identical, but police have made no indication that the two could be connected.
