WASHINGTON — WWE superstar and current Intercontinental Champion Mike “The Miz” Mizanin spent the day in Washington, D.C., making extensive media tour and capping it off with a night at Nationals Park.
As a heel, his crowd reception will always be controversial, but he was a Nationals fanatic on Friday night. He started out by conducting interviews with MASN and addressing the in-stadium crowd, which drew mixed reactions:
He also interacted with 106.7 The Fan’s Chris Russell, a notable wrestling fan:
The wrestling persona who seemingly trademarked the term “awesome” during interviews and microphone work, also sported a very fitting jersey for the occasion:
Before the first pitch, he hobnobbed with Nats players on the field, including the injured Ryan Zimmerman, and got Screech the mascot riled up:
While no video seems to exist of his first pitch, we have it on good authority that it was…well, awesome. We do have ample footage of his role in the fourth-inning Presidents’ Race, where he did what any good heel would do, and interfered.
Using his shiny Intercontinental Champion belt, The Miz blinded Teddy’s competition, clearing the way for an easy victory:
But the best moment was reserved for social media, where he confirmed what baseball fans in Washington, D.C. already knew: the Nats are officially awesome:
