A real estate agent had a nasty shock when checking on a home in Northwest D.C. on Tuesday evening.
Two women were found living illegally in a house with more than 60 cats.
Matt Williams, a spokesman from the Washington Humane Society and Washington Animal Rescue League, told the Associated Press that the real estate agent called police to the home after discovering the squatters.
Williams said 20 of the felines were inside the feces-covered house, while the rest of the 63 cats were inside a U-Haul van that had been parked behind the house.
Animal rescue workers saved 44 cats and kittens from the vacant house, but the two women took about 20 of the animals with them and disappeared.
It remains to be seen whether the two women, who haven’t been identified, will be facing charges.
