WASHINGTON — Kaylan King is 16 years old.
She hails from Maryland, plays softball and loves the Nationals, especially Bryce Harper.
She also has a medical condition that has caused numerous issues with her kidneys, including her left kidney being on the right side of her body, and her right kidney being smaller than normal. Her mother donated one of her kidneys to Kaylan so that she could survive severe kidney decline.
“[Doctors] said that my potassium levels are getting so dangerous, my heart could just stop beating.”
The surgery was a success, and Kaylan is a happy teenager these days. After a visit from her favorite player, courtesy of ESPN’s My Wish program, she’s even happier.
