Legendary Unofficial Redskins Mascot Chief Zee Has Died

WASHINGTON — Zema “Chief Zee” Williams, the longtime unofficial mascot of the Washington Redskins, has died, 106.7 The Fan has learned.

Williams, a fixture at Redskins games since the late 1970s, became as synonymous to the game day experience as the team itself.

“The Washington Redskins will always appreciate Zema Williams’ unique passion and dedication to our football team and his fellow Washington Redskins’ fans,” the team said in a statement.

Some Redskins fans plan to gather at Redskins Park for a vigil Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Wow. The legend. Chief Zee. #StateOfTheSkins
