WASHINGTON — The latest phase of Metro’s 9-month-long maintenance surge will cause more headaches for Northern Virginia commuters and airport passengers.
From Tuesday through July 18, Metro will shut down the blue and yellow lines between Reagan National Airport and Pentagon City. It’s the second straight week that portions of those lines will be closed.
That means it won’t be possible to ride Metro from the airport into downtown Washington. Also, the Crystal City station will be closed completely.
Shuttle buses will be available to bridge the gap between the stations, but Metro is advising riders to use other travel options if possible.
Metro is shutting down sections of track to get caught up on maintenance and make the system safer and more reliable.
