Bernie Sanders endorsed former rival Hillary Clinton for president at a joint rally in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on Tuesday.
The Vermont senator stood alongside Clinton and vowed to help her win in November, saying she is “far and away the best candidate” to lead the country because she can take on issues like income inequality, climate change and student debt.
“I intend to do everything I can to make certain she will be the next president of the United States,” Sanders promised.
Many Democrats had been encouraging Sanders to endorse the former secretary of state, who won the delegates needed to become the presumptive nominee weeks ago.
Sanders said Tuesday he was happy with recent updates to the official party platform, calling it the most progressive in history.
