Revere Hits Game-Winner in 14th, Gets Mobbed (Video)

WASHINGTON — The Washington Nationals are getting really good at winning walk-offs in their home ballpark, and even better at the ensuing celebration.

First came the hit from centerfield Ben Revere, in the bottom of the 14th inning against the Cincinnati Reds. With a 1-0 count, two outs and Danny Espinosa on second base, Revere lashed a double that clanged off the scoreboard in right field:

Here’s video from a fan sitting behind the team dugout:

Jayson Werth, who has been the subject of so many walkoffs in recent weeks, had a congratulatory word with Espinosa at the plate, while teammates pummeled Revere out in right field.

Rather than simply ripping off his jersey, teammates actually lifted him up and began spanking him. Really:

As John Madden, playing John Madden, said in the movie The Replacements: “Don’t do anything great if you can’t handle the congratulations.”
