WASHINGTON (CBSDC)– Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina will join the ten other candidates in the second televised GOP debate.
Fiorina made the cut this time around and will debate with the ten others who participated in the first round, which included Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Mike Huckabee, Rand Paul, John Kasich and Chris Christie.
Fiorina had moved down to the second tier in the first debate on Fox News, but her standing in the polls has risen since delivering a strong performance in an earlier debate in Iowa, as reported by CBS News.
Fiorina tied with Huckabee for seventh place in polls considered by CNN to determine candidates’ standings. Both Fiorina and Huckabee had an 4.4 percent average support in polls following the Aug. 6 debate. Fiorina is the only candidate to advance to the first tier from the second.
Republican candidates Rick Perry, Rick Santorum, Bobby Jindal, George Pataki and Lindsey Graham will participate in an earlier debate which begins at 6 p.m. ET.
In order to qualify for the debate, candidates had to average one percent support in any three national polls during the two-month window. These polls also decided which order the candidates will appear on stage. Trump is reported to be in the center, with Carson on his right and Bush on his left.
The debate, hosted by CNN, will be held at the Reagan Library in Southern California on Sept. 16th at 8 p.m. ET.
