LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — Police have released a composite sketch and photos of a person of interest in connection with two similar armed carjackings during which the suspect forced the victims to drive to banks to withdraw money.
Metro Transit Police say one incident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 12 at the Vienna Metrorail Station parking lot. The victim told police that the suspect approached her car as she was leaving the station, displayed a handgun, entered the car and forced her to drive to several establishments in Prince George’s County to withdraw cash and make purchases.
Police say the man then released the victim, an adult female, at the New Carrollton Metro Station and left the scene.
According to Fairfax County Police, another incident occurred on Nov. 7 around 9:50 p.m. in the 3000 block of Nutley Street.
In that case, they say the suspect approached the victim in the parking lot of a shopping center, produced a handgun and forced her own vehicle. Again, he had the victim drive to nearby banks to withdraw money and left her with her car at the New Carrollton Metro Station.
In neither case were the victims injured.
The suspect is described as approximately 5-foot-10 and walks with a limp to his right side.
