Woman Killed After Being Hit By Car in Maryland

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WNEW/AP) — Prince George’s County Police say a woman was killed Monday morning after being hit by a car on Maryland Route 210, or Indian Head Highway.

Police say the woman was pronounced dead on the scene in Accokeek, about 30 miles south of D.C.

Police say the driver who hit the woman stayed at the scene of the crash.

The woman was later identified as 61-year-old Lucia Miriam Amaya-Brown, of Accokeek.

The preliminary investigation reveals a pickup truck was traveling northbound on Route 210 when it struck Amaya-Brown. She was not in a crosswalk at the time.

The investigation is ongoing.
