LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — A 23-year-old man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a teenager after pushing her down an embankment in the Gainesville area.
Prince William County Police say a 19-year-old woman was walking in the area of Lee Highway and Gainesville Square Shopping Center around 9:45 p.m. when a man approached her from behind and pushed her down an embankment. He then sexually assaulted her.
She fought with him for several minutes and eventually got away. Police say as she climbed out of the embankment screaming, a passerby stopped to help her.
The man has been identified as Juan Carlos Lopez Ramirez, also known as “Noah.” He was arrested on Saturday.
Police say he was wanted for abduction with intent to defile and aggravated sexual battery.
