LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — One teenager was killed and two others were taken to the hospital with serious injuries after their car hit a tree early Saturday morning in Montgomery County.

Around 1:20 a.m., police and fire crews responded to the area of Hines Road and Macduff Avenue in Olney. Police discovered two teenagers, the driver and front seat passenger, trapped in the car.

The rear seat passenger was ejected from the car.

Police believe a 2011 Chrysler 200 convertible was traveling west on Hines Road when the car left the road and struck a tree prior to Macduff Avenue. The car then continued across Macduff Avenue and struck a light pole and a telephone box.

The car rolled over before coming to rest.

The driver is identified as 17-year-old Austin Donovan Hall, of Brookeville. He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The front seat passenger is identified as 17-year-old Maxwell Elliott Dechter, of Silver Spring. He was also taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The rear seat passenger is identified as 15-year-old Shawn Richard Gangloff, of Olney. He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say Gangloff succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about this collision is asked to call the Montgomery County Police non-emergency number at 301-279-8000.
