UPATE: Police say both sisters have been found safe and unharmed.

LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — Two young sisters from northern Virginia are missing and police are asking for the public’s help in locating them.

Prince William County Police say family members reported Fatima Alvarado, 8, and her 5-year-old sister Jhosyn Alvarado missing from their home in the 12700 block of Cara Drive in Woodbridge sometime during the overnight hours.

Police describe Fatima as about 4 feet 5 inches tall, weighing about 70 pounds with black hair in a ponytail and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue shirt with flowers and blue shorts, and may also be carrying a purple “Bratz” backpack.

Police describe Jhosyn as about 3 feet 1 inch tall, weighing about 50 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white shirt with flowers and blue jeans, and may also be carrying a pink princess backpack.
