WASHINGTON (WNEW) — D.C. Police are investigating three sexual assaults that occurred in the Mount Pleasant area that may be related.

In all three cases, a man approaches a woman walking alone between 2-3 a.m. and gropes them. In one case, a woman was stabbed during a struggle.

The sexual assaults occurred within two miles of each other.

On Aug. 30, D.C. Police released surveillance video of a person of interest involved in the assault with intent to commit first degree sexual abuse while armed in the 1300 block of Oak Street, northwest, on Aug. 23 around 2:35 a.m.

On Aug. 20 around 2 a.m., a woman was walking on Mount Pleasant Street when a man attempted to engage her in conversation. Police say when the woman turned onto the 1700 block of Kenyon Street, the man put his arms around her and groped her under her clothing.

The man was described as a Hispanic male with long dark hair in his mid 20′s to early 30′s.

On Aug. 23 around 2:30 a.m., a woman was walking in the 1300 block of Oak Street, northwest, when a man armed with a knife approached her from behind, grabbed her around the neck and groped her under her clothing. Police say a struggle ensued and the woman was stabbed.

The man was described as a 5-foot-4 Hispanic male in his late 20′s to early 30′s with a stocky build, clean-shaven and short hair wearing a blue, green and white polka dot button-down collar shirt and a red, black and white Chicago Bulls baseball hat.

On Aug. 24 around 3 a.m., a woman was walking in an alley in the rear of the 1300 block of Oak Street, northwest, when she saw a man following her. The man placed his arms around the woman’s waist and groped her, according to police. She was able to flee.

The man is described as a 5-foot-4 Hispanic male in his mid 20′s with black gelled hair wearing a black short sleeve polo shirt and blue jeans.

On Aug. 26, police released a composite sketch of the suspect in the possibly-related sexual assaults.
