LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — It seems like just yesterday that the National Zoo’s giant panda Mei Xiang gave birth to a healthy cub after months of pregnancy speculation.

Bao Bao has grown from a birth weight of about 4.8 ounces to more than 40 pounds — in the meantime learning how to crawl, then walk, then climb trees — and she will turn one year old this weekend.

Bao Bao’s birthday celebration, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, will feature special treats and activities for visitors. You will even be able to make a birthday card for the cub.

As part of the big birthday extravaganza, the zoo has released videos from the past year that offer sneak peaks into Bao Bao’s daily life and development. Our favorites are below.
