WASHINGTON (WNEW) — A Capitol Hill eatery is garnering national attention for its delicious dishes and difficulty getting inside the door — but both are expected after it was named America’s “Best New Restaurant.”

Rose’s Luxury, located at 717 8th Street SE in Washington, had people waiting around the block for a table long before it received the top ranking from Bon Appetit Magazine’s annual “Hot Ten” list.

But the national recognition certainly helps.

“The best new restaurant of 2014
is all about family, hospitality,
and the crunchiest, most addictive fried chicken you’ll ever eat,” Bon Appetit says about Rose’s Luxury.

The restaurant, which opened in October 2013, says it doesn’t accept reservations due to its small size. People are seated on a first-come, first-serve basis, which means getting in line well before 5:30 p.m. — when doors open — is a must.

WNEW’s Chuck Carroll tried his luck Tuesday night and said the wait for a table was two hours long just 15 minutes after the restaurant opened.

Rose’s Luxury announced on Tuesday that they will be closed Wednesday to celebrate their newly-bestowed honor.
