WASHINGTON (WNEW) — It wasn’t so long ago that the scaffolding around the Washington Monument finally came down, but guess what? Now it’s going up around the Capitol Dome.
A $60 million restoration project is expected to last about two years.
The Dome has not undergone a complete restoration since 1960 and age and weather have contributed to more than 1,000 cracks and deficiencies in the structure.
