Police Search For Suspect In Deadly Shooting of 3-Year-Old
UPDATED: Aug. 20, 2014 8:28 p.m.
LANDOVER, Md. (WNEW) — Police are still searching for a suspect charged with first degree murder in connection with the Sunday shooting of a 3-year-old girl in Prince George’s County, but a second man has been arrested and charged with being an accessory before and after the fact, as well as first and second degree murder and manslaughter.
Police responded to the 6900 block of Forest Terrace around 1:45 p.m. Sunday and found the girl, since identified as Knijah Amore Bibb of Harvard Street in Northwest D.C., suffering from gunshot wounds inside. She was taken to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries.
Investigators believe an argument outside the house escalated and that 25-year-old Davon Antwan Wallace, of the 7000 block of East Kilmer Street in Landover, fired a gun several times into the home, hitting the child. They do not think she was the intended target.
The man in police custody is 24-year-old Brian Campbell, who police say helped Wallace by giving him a gun and driving him away from the neighborhood following the shooting.
As Bibb is laid to rest on Wednesday, police are asking for more tips on the August 10 shooting.
Police believe Wallace is still in the general area and has been able to hide out locally with the help of others. They were close to catching Wallace and having him turn himself in through talks with his attorney, but police say that has fallen through.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925.
Prelim, detectives believe argument btwn 2 men escalated. One of those men returned to scene and shot into home, hitting girl.—
