Hanover Gas Station Clerk Killed in Overnight Shooting

HANOVER (WNEW) — A man is dead following a robbery and shooting at an Exxon station in Hanover.
Anne Arundel County Police say they received a 911 call from a customer of the station, located at 7898 Ridge Road, at about 1:35 a.m. The customer said they had found the clerk injured and unconscious.
Responding police officers and fire/EMS personnel responded and determined that the clerk, later identified as 49-year-old Rajinder Kumar of Glen Burnie, was dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
Surveillance video at the scene shows a male suspect entering the station and confronting the clerk shortly after 1 a.m. The suspect shoots the clerk, takes an undetermined amount of cash from behind the counter and flees on foot.
Police released a portion of the footage Thursday evening in hopes of identifying the person responsible.
The suspect is described as an African American male with an average build. He was wearing a dark hoodie, tan or light colored shorts and was armed with a handgun.
