Redskins Fan Appreciation Day Draws More Than 20,000

RICHMOND, Va. (WNEW) — The Washington Redskins have been at training camp down in Richmond for over a week now, but today is one of the highlights of camp: Fan Appreciation Day.

While most tickets were awarded by lottery, some fans got to Bon Secours early and scored some standby. Two hours before the gates opened, Redskins fan Grover McDonald was the first person in the standby line for tickets along with his wife and two grandsons.

McDonald, a longtime fan from Rockingham, N.C., says it was his idea to come to training camp on Saturday. He says it’s an item off the bucket list.

“Been a Redskins fan for 41 years and never been to a training camp before, ” McDonald says.

McDonald says anything short of a Super Bowl win will be a disappointment because of the addition of DeSean Jackson.
