UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WNEW) — A woman was hit and killed by a commuter bus while crossing the street Thursday in Prince George’s County, authorities say.

The fatal accident happened near the intersection of Main and Water streets in Upper Marlboro at about 10:30 a.m.

Upper Marlboro police tell WNEW’s Cameron Thompson that the pedestrian had the right of way and was hit while in the crosswalk when the bus turned left.

Thompson says it appears the pedestrian was pinned underneath the bus and possibly dragged after the initial hit.

He says there is a pair of women’s shoes in the street about 20 feet behind the bus, as well as broken glass scattered throughout the street.

The women has not been identified, but Thompson reports that she worked in the area.

Thompson is at the scene providing updates.
